Vacation minimalists-Part #2: The Basics
Becoming vacation minimalists was sounding pretty good after the last vacation. (If you didn’t read it yet, you can catch up to us. Go ahead. We’ll wait for you. We’re like that.)
What are the basics?
Depending on how you look at it, the basics can be a lot of things.
To some people it’s: One of everything in their closet. (You never can predict what the weather is going to be like, or if your new found crush is just around the corner. You just have to be ready.) Plus, all of the cosmetics in their medicine cabinet. (Or if your a guy you might just want to bring along your new weight-lifting set. After all, you never can tell who you’ll meet.) They might bring along just about everything else in their house “Just In Case”.
Then there are some people who just bring what they happen to be wearing at the time. And maybe a toothbrush.
And then there are some people who pack simply. These people are vacation minimalists.
When packing simply for one four-day weekend you look ahead at the weather forecast. Decide generally what the weather is going to be like for the time that your there. Feeling uncertain? Check a couple days before you are going to arrive, especially in spring and autumn seasons.
Spring and Autumn can be the most difficult seasons to be vacation minimalists.
Things to Consider
When packing, think ahead about what you are going to do. Are you going to just sit around in the hotel and do nothing but watch TV the whole time? Go wine tasting? Or are you planning on going for lots of hikes? (Hey girls! If your packing for a trip where you are going to go on hikes, and you are worried that your going to find your new-found love – you really needn’t be embarrassed about what you wearing. Really, no guy will hate you because you didn’t happen to be wearing a cocktail dress on the hike where he met you.Really.)
Another thing to take into consideration when thinking about what you are going to do while your there is cosmetics. If you are sitting around by yourself and watching TV the whole time you don’t need to be in full makeup. Or if you’re on a hike you don’t need to much to look natural and beautiful.
