Vacation Minimalists-Part #3: Vacation Minimalists
We’ve just learned about vacation minimalists. (if you’re just joining us now. Part 1 here. Part 2 here.) Let’s see the same family, same vacation, but this time a different outlook on what to take…….
Packing
One day a family decides to go on a family vacation. The kids are excited, and remain in control because the house is almost perfectly clean.
When it is time to go, Mom tells everyone what they need to pack. They bring it to her to make sure that the items that they choose line up with theĀ weather for the weekend. Packing literally takes half an hour, and the bags by the door all fitĀ in a laundry basket.
Then, they have lunch and clean the house so that it is nice and tidy for when they get back from their vacation. Because the house is clean and everything is packed, everyone has free time. The family spends time doing the things that they love, and thinking about how much fun the vacation is going to be. (Okay, the kids are a little bit more excited now. Dad’s workday is taking it’s sweet old time today. Go figure!)
Travel
Eventually, Dad finally comes home and all he has to do is grab the basket and put it in the back of the vehicle. It’s as simple as that. Then, everyone just has to get in the car buckle up and they’re off.
Once in the vehicle, there is hardly any complaining because no one is squished, hot, tired, or hyper. When they arrive at the hotel for the night, the kids are excited, but they are not stressed, so they don’t make a ton of noise when they enter the hotel.
The Results
When they get to their room, the kids don’t jump on the beds screaming their heads off and Mom isn’t yelling her head off trying to get them to be quiet. And where is Dad? At the end of the trip, he’s there. He is able to relax and enjoy because there is nothing else to bring to the room other that the one thing: the laundry basket.
With all of the “basics” the important things that they need for a vacation to enjoy with each other.
